In the 80s, Greg became the most popular and most decorated male porn star of all time. In this emotional interview with Fight the New Drug, he talks about how working in the porn industry has changed his perception of women and turned him into a drug addict.
Greg started as an actor in Hollywood and was fairly successful until the writer’s strike. After a month of starving, he took an offer to shoot his first adult film. Little did he know at that time that it was the beginning of becoming the biggest male porn star of all time. “The phone never stopped ringing, and the money got bigger and bigger,” he remembers.
“I had to go to work, to do the porn, so that I could buy the drugs, to bury the pain of doing the porn.”
Slowly, he started to look at women as objects and starved himself of emotions and intimacy. Drugs became a way to cope with the fact that he couldn’t feel anymore. He soon was trapped in a vicious cycle losing the ability to have a loving and caring relationship.
If a male porn star like Greg felt pain and went numb, just imagine how any other porn performer must feel. Especially female performers who are not on top of the industry but get abused and trafficked. Greg’s story perfectly demonstrates that porn does one thing very well; it teaches us to see other people as sexual objects. This is just one of 5 Reasons Why You Should Quit Porn Right Now.
